The Boston Celtics blog that I contribute to, Celtics 17, is hosting a draft deadline live blog. It will be going down this Thursday on Celtics 17 from 12 pm to 4 pm Eastern (11am to 3 pm Central). You can get to Celtics 17 by following the link on the right side of the page or go here for more information.
The second trade before Thursday’s trade deadline wasn’t really sexy to everyone watching the Amare Stoudemire/Ray Allen/Nate Robinson/Andre Igoudala/Tracy McGrady/Antawn Jamison/Carlos Boozer trade rumors, but it is to the Portland Trailblazers. Earlier today Portland sent point guard Steve Blake and forward Travis Outlaw to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for the center Marcus Camby. With both Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla gone for the season, Camby will provide the 8th place Blazers with interior defense and rebounding as they look to secure a playoff spot. And because his contract is in its final year, they can allow him to leave after the season and save some money. Camby has averaged 7 points and is second in the league with 12 rebounds per game.
For the Clippers, they get a good passing point guard in Steve Blake and a young, athletic wingman in Travis Outlaw. I believe both these guys will play well for the Clippers for the rest of the season despite no longer being in then playoff race, but it seems they won’t be around much longer than that as their contracts are also in their last year. Allegedly, Clippers owner Donald Sterling wants to spend some money this summer. We’ll see.

Six hours of buildup, hype, and getting beat over the head by in-depth analysis. That really scared me. ESPN already spends around three hours on Monday Night Football and that’s almost intolerable. But six hours? No one is capable of sitting there and watching that. I stayed in my room playing Xbox to avoid a football overload and totally forgot that the Orlando Magic and Boston Celtics were playing on ABC. That’s how bad it was- I was so intent on avoiding the deluge of NFL information that I forgot about an NBA game. But then, the game started and then it was done. There were very few penalties and the whole thing went pretty smoothly. It wasn’t ten o’clock when the game ended. I didn’t know what to do with myself. Read More…
